The World
"A field guide to the end of everything you knew."
The White Heat
It wasn't a bomb. It wasn't a war. It started as a temperature.
First, the animals changed. Cats stopped meowing and started watching. Dogs stopped barking and began to wait. Birds disappeared a week before humanity even noticed something was wrong. Then, the White Heat came for people. It didn't take everyone at once — it chose. Or something chose through it.
This event opened a forgotten biological channel in the brain: the Receptor. What entered through it determined your future.
The Three Categories
- Normals (Category 1): The Receptor didn't open. You remained human. Standard physiology, old morals, but entirely vulnerable to the empty signal.
- Virus-Born / Shells (Category 2): The Receptor opened into emptiness. The personality was erased, leaving only an aggressive biological machine. The meat noise of the world.
- Bonded (Category 3): The Receptor found an animal host nearby. You kept your mind, memory, and intellect, but gained the physical and behavioral traits of the host. The new elite.
The Rules
The Bite Rule
For a Normal, a bite from a Shell is fatal. But the Bonded possess Receptor Immunity. You can't be overwritten if your frequency is already claimed.
Domain Right
Territory is greater than ideology. Old borders mean nothing. You own what you can hold, protect, and feed.
The Mark
Schwartz's token. A symbol of safe transit and commercial neutrality in a world that doesn't respect either.
Movement as Language
How you walk tells them who you are. The geometry of your steps reveals your host, your threat level, and your intentions.
"This is not a story about how humanity lost to the dead. This is a story about how humanity lost its monopoly on intelligence, hierarchy, and cruelty."
