The World Ended. Civilization Improved.
When humanity stopped being the only intelligent species, the old world’s rules could no longer be taken for granted. The Dead Lands developed new ways of living together — sometimes elegant, sometimes severe, and always more complicated than they first appear.
Different Species, Shared Roads
Wolves, lions, humans, and other societies bring different customs and needs to the same map. They cannot all rule the same way. They can still travel, trade, and make agreements.
Conflict Without Constant War
Competition remains. So do debts, boundaries, and unequal power. But many disputes are settled through transit rights, etiquette, bargaining, and the control of resources rather than open violence.
Respect Does Not Require Agreement
An opponent can remain an opponent after a negotiation. The possibility of saying no, drawing a boundary, and continuing to coexist makes political life more interesting than a succession of battles.
Life Goes On
A working pump matters. So does a market, a warm room, a repaired vehicle, a joke, and someone waiting at the next stop. The world is strange, but it is lived in.
