Trotillions
Explosive footwear invented by Schwartz for breaching hordes of Shells. A cultural artifact of a world that turned violence into style.
The Invention of Violence as Style
Trotillions are perhaps the most iconic invention of the post-White Heat era. Created by Arnie Schwartz, a llama-bonded mutant and the proprietor of the Trade Court, Trotillions are heavily modified combat boots retrofitted with directed explosive charges in the heels. They were originally designed as a desperate, utilitarian tool for breaching dense hordes of Shells, but they quickly evolved into a cultural phenomenon.
Usage in Combat and Sport
The mechanics of Trotillions are brutally simple: the wearer straps a high-tension parachute line to their harness, jumps directly into a dense crowd of Shells, and detonates the boots upon heel impact. The directed explosion vaporizes everything within a three-meter radius, creating a brief pocket of space in the horde. The parachute line is then violently retracted by a winch team, pulling the wearer back to safety before the horde collapses back in.
What started as a survival tactic became an extreme sport and a method of conflict resolution among the factions. In the Dead Lands, a clean Trotillions run is rated on aesthetics, kinetic impact, and the sheer audacity of the drop. It represents the ultimate intersection of dark humor and lethal efficiency that defines the new world.
